私の妹はエチオピアでＡＩＤＳを持った子供達や難民を助けたり、
孤児院で働いたり、ＮＧＯのために情報収集などをしています。
僕と一緒で英語の方が得意なので、会話やメールは全て英語です。
今日から毎週、妹がメールでブログの記事を書いてくれる事になりました。
よく知られてないエチオピアの状況や、文化を紹介していきたいそうです。
今回は、新しくできた友達の話です。
I made a new friend, while visiting the St. Mary Church on Mount Entoto, named Ephrem, a 10 year old boy. Our friendship started when he asked me for a pen. He lives near the church with his parents and three sisters. His mother welcomed me graciously with her beautiful smile. He wants to be a pilot when he grows up and his sisters want to be doctors and police woman. After the visit to his home, he walked me back slowly to the church with a serious face to show his pride that he had brought a "white" visitor home. I had to keep myself from laughing as children and adults talked to him with curiosity. With his brilliance and determination, I dream of one day seeing a plane flying up in the blue clear sky with Ephrem as the pilot.
Etoto山にあるSt Mary 教会を訪問した際に、新しい友達ができました。
彼の名前はEphrem（エフレム）、10歳です。
友達になったきっかけは、彼がペンを貸してくれと頼んできたことでした。
彼は教会の近くに住んでいて、両親と3人の姉妹と一緒に住んでいます。
彼の家を訪ねたら、母親が笑顔で歓迎してくれました。
彼は将来パイロットに、そして妹は警察官になりたいそうです。
家から出て、教会へ帰る途中、彼は私をゆっくりと誘導してくれました。
「僕が白人を連れてきた」と言う意味で、深刻な顔になって、プライド満々の表情でした。
周りの子どもや大人が彼に興味深く話している最中、
日本人の私は笑いをこらえるのがやっとでした。
いつか彼がパイロットになって、青い空を羽ばたくのが私の夢です。
